The successful etching of the former austenite grains in an unalloyed, isothermally heat-treated sample with ‘PAG HT’ is remarkable.
Unfortunately, a further increase in the etching time worsened the result again.
The copper precipitate is polished off on a stationary, wet OPS disc (ChemTec). Depending on the alloy, 25% ammonia and a cotton swab are required to remove the copper deposit.
