Color etching according to Lichtenegger and Bloech (LB I) of a weld made of 316L. Austenite is colored blue-brown, delta ferrite remains white. The objective was to determine the primary solidification type of the weld structure against the background of hot cracking susceptibility. Results: Primary austenitic solidification is present.
