This hypoeutectoid quenched and tempered steel (bar material with ⌀ = 28 mm) with 0.38 % carbon (measured with OES; nominal: 0.38 – 0.45 %) was austenitised at 900 °C and then quenched in oil. The sample was not tempered. Slight carbon increases can still be seen in the overview image. This could be a continuous casting material. There are apparently no differences between these images and those from the case study of cubic martensite from heat treatment +QW +T.
