This near-eutectic aluminum casting alloy shows the following mechanical properties in permanent mold casting:
Without heat treatment:
Rp0,2 = 90 MPa; Rm = 180 MPa; A >1%, 55 HBW 2,5/62,5
T6 heat treatment:
Rp0,2 = 200 MPa; Rm = 240 MPa; A >1%, 80 HBW 2,5/62,5
The eutectic is not refined here, which is not required for a permanent mold casting due to the more athletic cooling rate.
The acicular formation did not have a significant effect on the mechanical properties compared to the sand cast specimen.
