RSA (Rapid Solidified Aluminium) is considered a “super alloy” because it achieves very good strength values. This sample contains 7.8% Ni, 4.3% Mo, 3.3% Zr, 2.6% Cu and Fe each, 1% Mn, and 0.7% Ti. This sample has the same composition as this case study, but with an inhomogeneous microstructure due to unsuccessful production. The layered solidification structure is still visible. The areas that appear white under a light microscope and dark in the SEM image are almost pure aluminum.
