Chemical designation102Cr6 | 100Cr6
State+QW +T Hardened and tempered (tempering temperature: 210 °C)
Etching3% Nital

This hypereutectoid steel (bar material with ⌀ = 16 mm) was austenitised at 840 °C for 30 min, quenched in oil and then tempered at 210 °C for 2 hours.

Since 102Cr6 is a through-hardening steel, there is no difference in the microstructure between the edge and the core. There are some bright carbide precipitates in the martensitic matrix.

The average core hardness is 727 HV1.
