The micrographs show the pure alpha structure of the low-alloyed and age-hardenable Cu alloy with typical recrystallisation twins. The beryllium content is 1.8-2.1 wt-%. The hardness of this sample is 240 HV0.3. The nature of the small spherical precipitations (containing Cu, Co and Ni) is yet unclear.

Typical properties:

  • Rp0.2 >=1000 MPa
  • Rm up to 1150 MPa – higher than all other copper alloys
  • high conductivity (120-170 J/kg*K)
  • hardness up to max. 420 HBW
  • good corrosion resistance, non-magnetic and non-sparking.

This combination of properties offers many advantages in demanding applications:
Drilling tools for the oil and gas industry, deep sea communication systems, aerospace bushings and electrical contacts such as contact springs and battery contacts.
