This hypoeutectoid steel (stampings) with 0.57 % carbon (measured by OES; nominal: 0.47 – 0.55 %) was austenitized at 830 °C for 30 minutes and subsequently bainitized in a salt bath (AS 140) at 320 °C. The microstructure consists entirely of hypoeutectoid steel.
The microstructure consists entirely of lower bainite.
The average core hardness is 506 ± 2 HV1.
