This cast iron with tendency to chilling contains 10-13% chromium. The hardness is 66 HRC. The microstructure consists of a martensitic matrix with finely dispersed chromium carbide precipitations and (primary) interdendritic chromium carbide precipitations. This is used, among other things, to produce grinding balls for ball mills.
