Here, an attempt was made to produce a wear-resistant protective layer with carbides of WC-Co-Cr by buildup welding. The high C content of the cast iron led to cracks. Residual austenite is present in the transition area; the graphite pebbles even partially dissolve. In addition, there are SEM images of the matrix needles as well as of the basic structure. Typical image (Fig. 18) showing the same orientation of the cementite within a pearlite grain.
