This cast iron with tendency to chilling contains 18-23% chromium, which gives it its high minimum hardness of 600 HV. The hardness here is 60 HCR. The microstructure consists of a martensitic matrix with interdendritic chromium carbide precipitations. This is used, among other things, to produce grinding balls for ball mills.
