EN-GJS-400-15 | 5.3106 Tendency to chilling

Numeric designation5.3106
Chemical designationEN-GJS-400-15
StateTendency to chilling
Etching3 % Nital

In the perlitic (carbon-rich) region, a ledeburite eutectic (metastable solidification) has formed, the so-called cementitic tendency to chilling. The undesirable formation of tendency to chilling is caused by a too low Si content and too rapid cooling. The mechanical properties determined in the tensile test still look good: Rp0.2: 335 MPa, Rm: 520 MPa, A: 14.0%* (* one sample, very small test cross section).
