Numeric designation5.3107
Chemical designationEN-GJS-450-10
StateGraphite classification and fracture appearance in tensile test
Etching3% Nital

The microstructure of this ductile iron consists of approx. 50/50 ferrite and pearlite. The minimum tensile strength is 450 MPa, the minimum elongation at fracture is 10%.

Graphite classification according to EN ISO 945-1:2019

  • Graphite form VI
  • Guide number for the size range: 6

The SEM images show a force fracture by tensile testing. The fracture is predominantly ductile (with coarse honeycombs around the graphite balls and micro-honeycombs on the combs), but also contains cleavage fracture components.
