The material 2.4819 (Alloy C-276 or Hastelloy® C-276) is a nickel-chromium-molybdenum-tungsten alloy with very high corrosion resistance in aqueous media (e.g. hypochlorites).
These images are from a longitudinal section through a weld that was sexposed to tensile stress during the welding process (simulated tensile test).
The microstructure has solidified dendritically, and cracks have formed as a result of the tensile stress.
