Lowest possible (standardized) strength grade of cast iron with lamellar graphite. Predominantly pearlitic matrix with lamellar graphite. Measured tensile strength is 110 MPa. There is no measurable elongation at fracture. The purely pearlitic matrix is rather unusual for a GJL-100 and would tend to indicate a higher strength class. However, the tensile specimen form was not carried out according to DIN 1561, since our client assumed a nodular graphite cast iron. Unfortunately, the dimensions of the component did not permit the production of a second, standardized “bone sample”, so that the tensile strength determined should be treated with caution.
