The coating applied by laser surface cladding is an environmentally friendly alternative to hard chrome plating. Rockit 401 (approx. 0.15% C, 18% Cr, 2.5% Ni) shows less crack suspectibility and good wear and corrosion resistance. The microstructure consists of ferrite and martensite.
