Chisel, fracture

Etching3 % Nital

predominantly as brittle grain boundary fracture with only occasional ductile overload fracture. The steel contains about 0.8% carbon and 0.1% phosphorus. The microstructure is martensitic (700 HV0.5), the former austenite grain size is about 20 µm.
